Canterbury

Canterbury became a Roman administrative centre: it lays at the junction of three roads from their ports of Regulbium (Reculver), Dubris (Dover) and Lemanis (Lympne); and it stood on what has become known as Watling Street. The city walls and one of the city gates remain. The name Canterbury derives from the Old English Cantwarebyrig, meaning "fortress of the men of Kent".
Canterbury Cathedral is the burial place of King Henry IV and of Edward the Black Prince, but is most famous as the scene of the murder of Thomas a Becket in 1170.

St Augustine's Abbey was destroyed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries ordered by Henry VIII, although ruins remain. During this time the Church of England separated from Rome. Canterbury became the centre of the new Church of England, although a Catholic shrine remains.

Reflection on Writing

I feel as writing for school is just annoying, I like writing but not writing papers. Papers are always just a hassle... you have to get them edited, write multiple rough drafts, and spend a great amount of time on them. I am not the best writer, I have difficulty making my papers long enough and also my grammar is awful. Beginning of freshman year I had no idea how to write a "good" paper, I did not have the best understanding of a thesis statement, hook, or how to write a good conclusion. English freshman year and last year even taught me a lot and how to write a decent papers. I learned from my mistakes... which i had a bunch of them and turned my writing around. I hate the struggles we all have to go with when writing but i guess it's just life and we must learn from our mistakes.

Hero

I would say the biggest hero in my life would be my older brother. He has taught me alot through out my life such as riding a bike, driving a car, and how to have a fun life. Steven and I are really close and always have been even though we are 10 years apart and the fact that he is married. He always showed me right from wrong and always came to my sporting events which ment alot to me. I think he is a hero because he cares about everyone and really looks after me.
